Success Stories

Jerry was an angry child. Unsuccessful in school, verbally aggressive and violent at home, Jerry kept everything bottled inside. Small frustrations became big problems, resulting in an explosive temper and constant fights with his mother and brother. When Jerry threatened a teacher at school, his behavior brought him to St.Vincent Family Centers. At St.Vincent’s, Jerry’s behavior problems were addressed and a previously undiagnosed learning disability was brought to light. With the appropriate interventions for his behavior and learning difficulties, Jerry soon began to have a positive school experience, which boosted his self-esteem. Now Jerry seeks help when he needs to talk about his feelings and is learning how to control his temper and be less aggressive at home. Jerry achieved the highest level of responsibility for his good behavior in the School-Age Partial Hospitalization program and graduated from the program in the middle of the school year. The Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment program continues to provide him and his family the support they need to continue on the path to successful functioning.
