WHAT WE DO
Intervention is our primary goal in supporting the children who visit us here at St. Vincent's. By working with family members and care providers, we not only help change children's behavior, but also help change surrounding environments, which often contribute to behavioral problems.
It is easier to intervene when troubled children are young than when they are teenagers or adults, when thinking patterns and values are already in place. We work to stabilize our students' behavior so they may obtain the goal of returning to a less restrictive educational setting in the future.
OUR PURPOSE
St. Vincent Family Centers is a vital community resource providing pediatric behavioral health care for children ages 0-18 with severe emotional and behavioral problems.
Many of these children would have no other alternative for treatment without St. Vincent's, which works with the whole family to provide behavior management tools that will allow the family to stay together whenever possible. The majority of the families served live at or below the poverty line.
St. Vincent Family Centers provides a continuum of high quality, specialized services to children with behavioral health needs to help them realize their full potential. By helping children and families, we are strengthening our community one family at a time.
Children have a right to services meeting their physical, emotional, development, and spiritual needs.
Every child deserves our respect and the opportunity to participate fully in society without the additional weight of mental health issues.
Children are vulnerable members of our community and deserve the highest quality care possible especially those who have no other avenue open to them for treatment.
Each child and family (whatever its configuration) has inherent worth and our effort must be to support their fullest possible participation in their community.
The best care for children is delivered by highly competent staff who respect and value diversity and who themselves are valued and respected.
The best care for children is that which is delivered in the least restrictive environment and with the greatest involvement of family members/ care givers.
VISION
Provide specialized behavioral health treatment resources and a system of support to children and families who have emotional and behavioral challenges.
